These are the clay projects each grade level is working on: CX.1: Understand the global, historical, societal, and cultural contexts of the visual arts. 8th Grade - North Carolina Face Jugs 8.CX.1.1 - Understand the role of visual arts in North Carolina and the United States in relation to history and geography. 8.CX.1.2 - Analyze art from various historical periods in terms of style, subject matter, and movements. 8.CX.1.3 - Analyze the effect of geographic location ad physical environment on the media and subject matter of art from NC and the United States.
7th Grade - Cubist Masks 7.CX.1.3: Analyze the effect of geographic location and physical environment on the media and subject matter of African, Asian, and Australian Art. 7.CX.1.2: Analyze art from various historical periods in terms of style, subject matter, and movements. 7.CX.1.1: Understand the visual arts in relationship to the geography, history, and culture of modern societies from the emergence of the First Global Age to the present.
6th Grade - Ancient Greek Vessels 6.CX.1.1- Understand the visual arts in relationship to the geography, history, and culture of world civilizations and societies from the beginning of human society to the emergence of the First Global Age. 6.CS.1.3- Analyze the effect of geographic location and physical environment on the media and subject matter of art with an emphasis on South American and European art. Reminder: Our meet the teacher night is Wednesday, Sept 13th at 6 pm. Hope to see you there!

Visual Arts exPLORATORY
We explore many different materials and art tools and techniques such as painting, printmaking, mixed media, clay, and drawing. Students learn the basic Elements of Art and Principles of Design and how to apply them to create their own original artwork.
