Just sending another update for the week - can't believe we are already done with week 4! This week we finished painting our haiku portfolios- Wednesday was our last day to work on them in class. If your child missed any days, they have that number of days to make it up outside of school. I will have pictures up on our classroom website sometime later next week. They all turned out so beautifully! Today students started learning about the 7 Elements of art: Line, Shape, Color, Form, Value, Texture, and Space. The Elements are the visual symbols artists use to create art. After learning the Elements, we will focus on the 7 Principles of Design of: Balance, Emphasis, Unity, Contrast, Rhythm, Pattern, and Movement. To end the unit, students will take a test on both the Elements and Principles.
Also, I wanted to extend an invite to an art show that I will be a part of in Crossroads of Cary. I got the opportunity to showcase 7 of my 'food art' paintings at Coffee and Crepes. There will be a small reception next Friday where they will serve free coffee- I will be there from 7-9 pm if you would like to come say hi! If you can't make it next Friday night (Sept 29th), my paintings will stay up for the next month.
Hope you all have a great weekend! :)
