This week we had to say 'see ya later' to our student teacher, Ms. Sullivan :( She taught us so many things and we are sad to see her go. She is now on her way to Scotland to do the rest of her student teaching! Best of luck!!

This semester, I had another student teacher from Appalachian State- Ms. Kathryn Sullivan! One of her projects she did with my students was this amazing project that was inspired by the artist, Dave Chihuly. Dave Chihuly is a glass artist who creates larger than life pieces. He always incorporates bright, vivid colors and plays with how light reacts with the glass. Here are some examples of his work: Instead of glass, we collected clear plastic water bottles and used them instead! Students painted several water bottles, cut them, and then they were attached to wire where they were all hung.
So glad that we were able to actually hang them in the skylight in our school!! It looks like an official Chihuly!! :) One classes is also hanging in my classroom bringing in some color! We will be starting our clay unit on this Wednesday! We will be basing our project off of Van Gogh and his paintings. We won't actually start working with the clay until Monday, but will be doing several things first to get ready for the project. Below are examples of Van Gogh Clay Tiles from previous years: Stay tuned for this semesters Van Gogh Tiles!!
