I am so excited you are in my class!  To the right you can check out important papers for this class and you can see what projects we have done in the past Visual Arts Exploratory classes.  I change our projects up all the time, so we will probably be doing a lot of fun different stuff!  Hope you will enjoy this class and that you will learn a lot!

Don't forget to get your materials for this class!  They are important to have with you everyday.

 1. A pack of #2 pencils (may be stored on assigned shelf) – a pencil will be needed for every day.
 2. A Folder with 3 brads (or prongs) and pockets to hold paper- we will make this into our sketchbook (this may also be stored on assigned shelf) – needed for every day. I will provide the paper.
3. A ruler (wooden, plastic, whatever works for you)
4. Fine point and Ultra Fine Point BLACK Sharpie or Permanent Marker
5. Big eraser (pink pearl or something like it)
6. Pencil pouch to store materials in

Arbitrary colored spirit animals - oil pastel

1/22/2017

For this project, students chose an animal that they felt represented their 'spirit animal'.  Students learned how to use the oil pastels in different ways and how to make their animals with arbitrary colors.  Arbitrary colors are colors that are 'non-realistic'.  So, if you wanted to make your cat blue, make the cat blue! :)  I love how these animals have so much expression through the use of color.  They turned out great!  Here are some that were chosen to hang in the hallway.

  Peter Max poster winners!
I chose 15 of the top "Save the Earth" Poster and 15 "North Carolina" Posters to be laminated and hung up in the school!  Everyone worked really hard and I am so happy with how colorful they are!  They definitely brighten our school halls.
