In art club, we have been working on Visual Journaling! Anyone can create a visual journal and it can hold whatever you like! It can be your planner/calendar/sketchbook/notebook/etc! It is a GREAT way to take some time away from our busy, stressful life and create art.
We are taking inspiration and learning from the Journal Fodder Junkies, Eric m. Scott and David R. Modler. They have done many, many workshops, have published two books and have created video tutorials! Below are their books and some videos that might help you to start your journey on to the visual journal.

When we think of paintings, we usually think them to be painted on Canvas. Well, when you don't have canvas, you have to get creative! So, instead we used cardboard boxes, tape, and gesso to make the 'canvases' for our animal paintings! Anyone can make these! You just need these materials:
Here is the construction process of the 'cardboard canvases'
1. wrap cardboard with masking tape
2. paint gesso (1 layer is usually fine)
3. let dry
Finished 'cardboard canvas' all ready for a painting!
While the canvas was drying we drew our sketches for our Animal paintings...
Then we painted them in acrylic paint and let them dry! Here are some of the finished (plus some in progress) paintings!
This Wednesday we face painted at our Tailgate that we had before our "Black Out" Football game! The art club members did such an AMAZING job face painting- I am one proud art teacher!
Thanks to everyone who came out and participated!
In art club, we do many different fun activities, both inside and outside the classroom. Art Club members are encouraged to learn new art techniques, advance their skills, make new friends and get new ideas!
